SKIET signed MOU with Gotion, a global battery manufacturer, to strengthen collaboration on supplying separators for EV and ESS batteries
■ The agreement follows SKIET’s recent KRW 291.4 billion long-term supply deal for prismatic LFP separators with another global customer

■ SKIET CEO Lee Sang-min emphasized the company’s commitment to driving corporate value by leveraging its cutting-edge products and robust global supply chain.
SK IE Technology (SKIET), a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) battery materials, announced a new partnership with Gotion, a global battery manufacturer, to expand the supply of separators for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage system (ESS) batteries, focusing on the North American and European markets.
The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on February 26, 2025, at the Intersolar North America Conference in San Diego, California. The agreement outlines plans to collaborate strategically on separator supply for Gotion’s operations in key global markets. The signing ceremony was attended by SKIET CEO Lee Sang-min, Head of SKIET Business Division Kim Jong-hyun, and senior executives from Gotion, including the President of Gotion Inc., and Head of Gotion International Supply Chain Center.
Under the MOU, SKIET and Gotion will work closely to strengthen separator supply in North America and Europe. SKIET has already conducted the verification process for supplying separators for EV and ESS batteries at Gotion’s production facilities. Once finalized, the supply agreement will see SKIET delivering separators to Gotion’s upcoming manufacturing plants in Illinois, USA, and Slovakia, Europe.
Gotion currently operates factories in multiple locations worldwide and is constructing new plants in Illinois and Slovakia. It is particularly notable as one of the fastest-growing battery companies expanding globally.
Meanwhile, SKIET’s efforts to diversify its customer portfolio continue to gain momentum. Earlier this month, the company signed a KRW 291.4 billion long-term supply contract with a global battery customer for prismatic lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery separators. During a recent earnings call, SKIET revealed that it is actively negotiating additional mid- to long-term contracts with other global customers.
Lee Sang-min, CEO of SKIET, said :
This partnership with Gotion represents a significant step forward for both companies as we look to create synergies in the global EV and ESS market,
“By leveraging our advanced products—designed to meet the needs of all battery form factors—and our robust global supply chain, SKIET will continue to elevate its corporate value and reinforce its position as a key player in the global market.”
President of Gotion Inc. also stated,
In the face of an increasingly uncertain and challenging market environment, we aim to navigate these difficulties in partnership with SKIET.
“We will continue to strive for the establishment of a long-term and strategic global cooperation relationship between our two companies.”
